Care and Repair Western Bay is an independent Home Improvement Agency formed as the result of a merger between Care and Repair Neath Port Talbot and Swansea Care and Repair on 1st October 2016. This was part of a national merger agenda for Care and Repair Agencies and as required by Welsh Government.
Swansea Care & Repair was established in April 2000 followed by Care & Repair Neath Port Talbot in April 2001. Both agencies differed from the other original 20 Care & Repair agencies in Wales because they directly employed a large team of handyperson staff to carry out adaptations and repairs to older peoples' homes. It was recognised, though, that direct employment of the Handyperson team both added to the management demands on the Agency and, because of the constraints of grant funding and charity law, restricted the opportunities for the Handyperson team to develop new services. In April 2011 both Swansea Care & Repair and Care & Repair Neath Port Talbot established trading arms; Care & Repair Services and Home Solutions.
Following the Williams Report in in 2014 many Care & Repair Agencies across Wales were required to merge. In 2015 the Boards of Management for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot decided to merge the agencies.
In June 2016 all Home Solutions staff TUPE transferred into Care & Repair Services and the company was re-named and re-branded Care & Repair Solutions.
In October 2016 all staff from the charity side of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot TUPE transferred in to the new Agency Care & Repair Western Bay.
