Policy WatchCare & Repair Cymru works to influence the development of national policy; particularly that which has an impact on the lives of older people in Wales. This is achieved by drawing on the expertise of the Care & Repair Movement and working in partnership with other national organisations in Wales. HOW DO WE DO THIS? Networks and partnerships We participate in the development of policy through involvement in 'expert groups', for example being part of the Advisory Group on the development of the Strategy for Older People, The Implementation Planning Group for the National Service Framework for Older People as well as other national partnerships and networks. These partnerships or networks include:
Housing Forum Cymru Consultation At a national level, we respond to Consultation Papers that come from the National Assembly for Wales and the UK Government. We have given oral representation at Assembly Committees. We listen to the needs and experiences of older people by working closely with Care & Repair Agencies. These experiences and the experiences of the Agencies in working with local partners are the impetus of our strategy and policy responses. Mailouts, Briefings and Forums We work to equip Agency Managers and their staff with information and knowledge about the national policy environment in Wales and the UK through a series of activities. There is a monthly Mailout, which highlights items of news, policy updates, training courses and information about funding organisations, useful websites and information briefings. Care & Repair Cymru's Regional Team is the link between the national office and the Agencies, feeding information to Managers and from Managers to the colleagues in the National team. This is also achieved through organising and facilitating forums for Agency Managers and staff. Policy information is updated in the Policy Update section |
