Manifesto for Local Welsh Government elections May 2012

The manifesto for Community Housing Cymru group was launched today at the Norwegian church in Cardiff bay at an event called ‘Under one roof’. Within the manifesto, Care & Repair Cymru have called for better funding solutions for older people living in the poorest housing conditions. An example of a product which CRC thinks could be used for this purpose is Property Appreciation Loans (PALS).

At the launch Chris Jones, Managing Director of Care & Repair Cymru explained that funding for helping older people with repairs is extremely difficult to find and products such as PALS or similar equity release products could provide a sustainable solution as the loans are repaid and recycled into further lending.

CRC look forward to discussing this initiative further with the Welsh Government and Local Government.

Care & Repair Cymru Manifesto 2010-2011

Care & Repair Cymru are aware of the pressures on publicly funded services in the statutory and third sectors.

We have produced a manifesto for 2010/11 which aims to set out the problems faced by many older people living in their own homes; how our services provide cost effective solutions for older people living in unsuitable housing and the quality and value for money of our services to government and the health, social care and housing sectors.
